Customers log into their client portal with a magic link. They enter their email address, we send them a link, and they click it to come into the portal. There are no passwords to set up or remember.
Logging in with a magic link
The customer enters their email address on the client portal login screen
We send a link to that email address
They click the link and go straight into their portal
Magic link is currently the only login method. You can see this under Login Form when you edit the login screen of your client portal, where Email & Magic Link is the only option in the list.
Sending a portal link to a customer
You can send a customer a link to their portal from a job, or from a rep. That link works like a magic link, so the first time they click it, it logs them straight into their portal without asking for anything.
The link can only be used once. If the customer clicks it again, they will be asked to enter their email address and request another link.
This is deliberate. There is a lot you can do inside the client portal, including claiming upsells and choosing assets, and those actions need a little extra security. Expiring the link once it has been used stops it being passed around, posted publicly or reused by someone it was never meant for.
If a customer tells you their link has stopped working, ask them to enter their email address on the login screen and request a new one.
